How a Father of a Sandy Hook Victim Is Stopping Gun Violence



After 2020 AARP Purpose Prize winner Mark Barden lost his youngest child, Daniel, in the Sandy Hook shooting, he and others in Newtown, Connecticut, wanted to make changes so that no parent would experience the tragic, preventable loss of a child. Sandy Hook Promise works with students and adults to teach the warning signs of gun violence so schools can be a safer space for learning.

a productive endeavor. Rep. Lucy McBath is another parent who decided to do something positive with her life after her son was murdered. They are my heroes.
