Dr. Birx drops bombshell about US Covid-19 deaths (CNN)

Dr. Deborah Birx, the coronavirus task force coordinator until former President Donald Trump, revealed in an interview with CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta that the number of coronavirus deaths could have been "decreased substantially" if cities and states across the country had aggressively applied the lessons of the first surge toward mitigation last spring, potentially preventing the surges that followed.

Seems to state the blindingly obvious.

Temporary Masks and sheltering in place worked. The former guy, her boss, saw only red and blue states, not people. It was killing the right people. He cared only enough to be sure to be in on the grift. THen turned to focus on the election he rigged and still lost.
She said nothing. Not even during bleachgate. Nothing.

Virus relief checks from the get go would have made staying in more palatable to some. Essential workers in the trades should have been retrofitting buildings to improve and enhance ventilation and air filtering, rather than home watching fox and googling q.

We should have stayed home, masked up, and had a vaccine distribution plan in place. Instead, she said nothing, and her former boss ginned up an insurrection over imaginary voter fraud instead.

... she managed very poorly, compared to a more celebrated doctor from the task force. Maybe he was better at it... Birx needs to get specific about Trump and the leader of the task force - Mike Pence. Explain exactly what they said and did (not) - and how they are responsible.

No, Dr. Wen, we don't have to go back and correct the response so that this doesn't happen again.

The playbook was there. It was written by the Obama administration. The Obama administration gamed this out, and they, literally, wrote the book. What we - whatever administration is in power - need to do is follow the playbook. Listen to the experts. Refine the messaging.

So, no, we don't have to go back and correct anything. What we need to do is modify the Obama administration plans and then release it publicly to ensure that every state health department has it, that every hospital has it, that every member of the public who might want to see it has it. So that no administration - ever - can say they didn't know, or they were overwhelmed, etc.

One step that should be taken quickly is reestablishing the presence of western doctors in Chinese institutions, and vice versa. We may disagree on everything else, but the reality is that this is not a political issue, it is an "otherwise we are fucked" issue. In this regard, establish inspection groups in the UN to verify the shutdown, or at least the safe management of wildlife breeding operations. Pretty much along the lines, conceptually, of nuclear inspections.

Next step, create an actual national stockpile of PPE, which is recycled however frequently it has to be recycled. IOW, sell soon to expire PPE at a discount to institutions so that the old inventory can be cleared out and new inventory purchased. PPE to extend to ventilators and other medical equipment. Also, create a plan for storage - centrally or dispersed - and for distribution and the triggers that mandate distribution. Track all equipment and retrieve and recondition equipment that is no longer needed. This is a huge job and initial development will be in the billions. And we can either make that investment or not act surprised when the next pandemic results in deaths in the millions. And enact laws to prevent price gouging on PPE or medical equipment. Again, establish the baselines of what is and isn't price gouging, track it, and charge people/companies when this is violated at any time.

You could have prevented some of those deaths. They're on your head.

had to coordinate their responses.

It was the incredibly inept administration that actually blocked coordination.

Could it be that Dr. Birx also profited (profiteered) from the malfeasance just like the trumps, the kushners, the mal group (Mar-El-Lago) that advised the peeResident?

You and Redford were complicit. Own up and do some mea culpas (or whatever your type do.)
