I haven't been able to watch the trial live, but have read as much as possible, watched the coverage, and have seen a LOT of video of the trial. I thought I'd seen all of the girlfriend's testimony and cannot understand why Cornel West was so dismissive and derisive of her.?
Here's what I heard in the interview (starting around the 3 minute mark): "But we heard from our vanilla sister, Courtney." West goes on to paraphrase in Courtney's voice: "I stayed in contact with the rich humanity of George. I knew he was a tender man. I knew he was a soulful man. I knew he was a kind man. I knew he was a human being, faults and foibles like all of us, no matter what color or gender or sexual orientation"-- Then West exclaims, "Thank God, we've got some acknowledgment." Lemon interrupts at that point. West was seemingly all but dripping in condescension as he said this...?
Anyone? At least he didn't lash out at Obama again this time around.
What was it about the girlfriend's testimony that made West lash out with so much contempt?
