(80,402 posts)Boehner has some GOP scores to settle, he could go crazy I suppose.
And with all his years of drinking, I cannot predict his behavior anymore.

Too bright and fundamentally decent to side with trump or anyone who resembles trump. Too baked-in Republican and conservative to go full monty and become a Dem.
It will be interesting to see them all observe from the sidelines. Not enough strength to do anything, really.

(54,481 posts)but as much as you knew he was undermining and blocking Obama at every turn, you knew he just saw the world from rich Republicans' perspective and was doing their bidding. But I never felt he was undermining the whole country, and never doubted his patriotism. He just saw the world very differently than Democrats do.

Listening to Boehner now may be entertaining but let's not pretend he's seen the light.

(1,348 posts)Im not good at German pronunciations, but to my ear it sounds like Burner, without really pronouncing the middle r.
Of course, when I say it that way, my husband laughs, so lets just say its a sound I have not completely mastered.

(8,887 posts). . . courtesy of my college singer's diction professor, Lois Laverty, at Westminster Choir College. Say any word with a long 'a' sound -- such as 'late' or 'mate.' While you say it take note of where your tongue is in your mouth to enable you to make that vowel sound. You will probably note that your tongue is arched front to back, with the middle section touching or nearly touching your upper molars. So, say the name Boehner as if it were pronounced "Bay-ner." Now say it again, only shape your lips as if you were pronouncing a long 'o', as in 'hope' -- and you should have it. It will feel awkward at first, until you get used to pronouncing it.

(114,503 posts)Right now, they're just rounding up all the assholes they can find. I imagine there will be a lot of good cop/bad cop sessions to get the hangers on to turn against the leaders and the leaders to turn on each other.
We need every high level planner and everyone who contributed money to make it happen to face charges, and I'm looking at you, Ginni Thomas. You need to face a few consequences, yourself, for pushing the big lie and enabling the mob.
If it cleans out a few of the guys Boehner describes so beautifully in his book, that is a good thing.
None of this should be swept under the rug, not now, not ever. We saw what that got us with Reagan, Nixon, and Dubya.
