I know they are angry, but I don't think they either know or care about how their behavior leads people to double-down on supporting the police.

Forget about the big lie. An even bigger lie that Republicans keep saying is that Democrats burnt and looted cities and businesses all throughout 2020. That's not true and very few media outlets, including CNN, have fought against that lie. So, covering a riot after ignoring 200 peaceful protests is exaggerating the lie.
