They should exclude this reporter from future briefings or such, since he is seemingly only interested in 'gotcha' issues etc., or in another words, a RW attorney attempting to place her/the Biden admin. under cross examination.
Enough. Kick these thugs out of the briefings...they're not really interested in News, and in fact, are more interested in 'making the News'.

(114,671 posts)You've got to dumb it down for these cleft headed idiots.
"No, sir, that is one of the anitabortion far right's favorite lies, but using public money for abortion has been banned for decades. Public money can't be used for abortions, not unless Congress overturns that law. It is not done."
When he blathers about how money can't be traced, "No, that is another lie by the far right. The money is traced and is put into a separate fund by these organizations. They use it for cancer screenings and other health care. They are prevented by law from using it for abortions and have to account for every cent."
If he tries to blather again, "How many women do you want to kill from cancer or other illnesses? Because that's what you're doing."
NEXT
You have to identify far right propaganda as LIES and say why they're LIES or the folks out in TV land will think you're the one who's lying. That's how propaganda works. You can't use big words to morons who are used to being spoon fed a pack of lies. You just can't.
End of lesson.

My apologies to Catholic DU members - I am on an all juice regimen and kinda cranky.

(9,227 posts)So you have the concepts of guilt, fear, and punishment always waiting to be rolled out and used as a weapon to keep the faithful in line.
I walked away from the Catholic Church decades ago when I realized they were not helping me find my way to God. It was a liberating experience.

(830 posts)The question is always phrased "well, if you give them money in one area they just use the money displaced by the new money to provide abortions." That is the lie they love to perpetuate. In accounting all money is accounted for, both where it comes from and where it goes. Say you get 100 dollars that can be legally spent on every thing but milk. The law that grants you that 100 dollars says no milk is to be bought with any part of that 100 dollars. Now you also get donations of 5 dollars to buy milk. The way accounting works is that you have 2 accounts, one for everything, and one for milk. When the 5 dollars for milk is spent that account is empty until more donations are received. No money from the 100 dollar account can be placed in the milk account legally and would immediately trigger the anti-milk fanatics to scream about misappropriation of the general account. This is ridiculously simplified but the idea holds up. You can't spend money for abortions unless you can clearly demonstrate that that money was donated for that purpose. Once that money is completely spent you cannot provide more abortions. You cannot pull funds into the abortion account that are legally not allowed to be spent on abortion. There is no magical moving money around. This is not a trump company filing for bankruptcy, it is an agency accountable to the public with the legally enforced prohibition on spending federal funds on abortion.

(77,277 posts)Agree completely.
Having been on the BoD of a $300 million CU for years, the budget is assigned line items for a reason.
That's true of any business, profit driven or not.
But, facts of business are irrelevant to guys like this reporter. He had a point to make & was too busy loading up a question to notice it was based in fantasy.
Justice matters.

(9,227 posts)The government isn't your church, your church is your church.
No religion has the right to dictate what people of other religions, or no religion, can or can't do.
If we let each group determine what the whole does, then nothing will get done. We'll be pulled in a hundred different direction at once. Government will cease to function.
A Democratic Republic is always a compromise of many diverse groups working together for the greater good. This does require allowing people to be different in beliefs and actions.
Unfortunately, that idea is becoming less and less viable in this country.
