Company Hired For AZ Republican Ballot Audit Stunt Abandons Pretense Of Transparency - Rachel Maddow

Roopali Desai, attorney for Arizona Democrats suing to stop the Republican ballot audit stunt, talks with Rachel Maddow about the case against how the audit is being conducted, concerns about transparency in what is, on its face, an agenda-driven endeavor, and concerns, also, about the long term effects on democracy of what Arizona Republicans are attempting to do. Aired on 04/26/2021.

Anecdote In NYT Report Paints McCarthy's Leadership During 1/6 Trump Riot In Poor Light - Rachel Maddow - MSNBC

Rachel Maddow shares a small detail from near the end of a lengthy New York Times story about Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy in which McCarthy flees to safety ahead of rioting Trump supporters in the Capitol on January 6th, and leaves behind a Republican congressman to hide in McCarthy's bathroom with only an antique sword as defense. Maybe she's laughing instead of crying. I agree that the news she reported was pretty dire. Rhiannon12866 Apr 2021 #2

laugh about something so serious. Maybe it's just me, but her laughing seems to lessen the severity of the situation.

They will target these voters in subsequent elections. They most likely are building a huge database.

Cyber Ninjas, if the plan works out to their advantage, will have cast a light shadow over the ballots at best. A light shadow. No one is going to demand the election be voided because of something this groups claims to have discovered. But simply by claiming to a benighted public that there were irregularities discovered that are extremely concerning, simply making that public and mendacious statement, they will have done a service to the GOP in Arizona and to its efforts to cloud the minds of voters to the truth.

But over and above that, the “Ninjas” will have gained access to literally millions of voters id’s for future use in fund raising and political campaigns. I can just see mailers: “You voted for President Flubbo in 2020, but your vote was stolen! That must not happen again. Will you send $$$$$$$ to us to fight for a clean and honest vote so that your vote will matter in the next election?"

I seem to remember when your vote was a private matter. In Arizona that is, obviously, no longer the case. It is out there, available for use in political campaigns.

Jesus wept, indeed, but not nearly as much as George Washington.

Normally neither private 3rd parties nor the two political parties in AZ are allowed access to "Birth month and day, any part of SSN, DL number, Indian census number, father’s name or mother’s maiden name, state or country of birth, signature, e-mail address". But if those are deemed necessary for a recount - which one might assume they are - the need for a data aggregator like Cambridge is no longer even needed for much of the private data siphoning process.
