Reagan took all the credit, as you know. And yes: Often times presidents' accomplishments are noticeable only after they leave office.

"Only the most complex and difficult tasks come before the Oval Office," he once remarked. "No easy answers are found there, because no easy questions come there."

Or as Cheeto would put it: "This is a really hard job!"
