John Oliver explains why some people don’t want to get the Covid-19 vaccine and how they might be reassured. (Even you, Mike in Baltimore.)

my own doubts stemmed from the "warp speed" approval process. trump was obviously more concerned that the vaccine be approved before the election than the safety or effectiveness of the stuff.

but, i got 2 shots of pfizer and glad i did.

2. Trump told so many lies about the virus that people didn't know what to believe

I certainly knew enough not to inject bleach, can't believe he actually said that on national TV, but I did trust what Dr. Fauci said and got whatever vaccine was available to me first. Turns out it was Moderna when pharmacies started offering vaccines, so I got that at CVS as soon as I could qualify for an appointment and was so relieved when I did. I did feel pretty rotten for the first couple of days after shot #2, but like John Oliver said, it was sure better than covid! And I was kind of tickled when I learned that Dr. Fauci had gotten Moderna too.

the politicians need to keep their mouths shut, introduce the doctors and get out of the way. too much to ask of the former guy.

Those so-called virus briefings were nothing more than another excuse for the former guy to sound off in front of a captive audience. He barely let the medical professionals speak and then they kind of disappeared. I tuned into the first one since I needed to know what was going on, but it was interminable and just plain irritating so that was the last time. And when Dr. Fauci made a recent appearance on Rachel Maddow's show, he came out and said he hadn't been on for so long because "they" wouldn't let him until now!

As usual, John Oliver did a thorough job - and not without humor.

10. I wouldn't go that far, but they should definitely be prevented from entering public places

Similar to the mask rule now - at least the one we have in New York, stores/businesses have signs on the entrances that no one is allowed inside without a mask, and it's enforced.
