Bill Maher's False Flag Supply

New Rule: The College Scam
Bill delves into what higher education in America really is: a racket that sells you a very expensive ticket to the upper middle class.
Here's a "bootleg" version of the show which includes Bill's Monologue, the the entire interview with Rep. Ritchie Torres (6:23) and panel discussion with former Ohio Governor John Kasich and former MSNBC host Chris Matthews (17:10), and complete New Rules (46:13). It won't last long, as usual:

(55,527 posts)I don't know what it is but Kasich, Matthews and Maher together were like nails on a chalkboard....very irritating.
The MAGA paraphernalia for sale was pretty funny and made up for the rest.

(258,834 posts)I'm no fan of Kasich and he was a bit overbearing, but amazingly he attacked the Republicans as much as the others did... And I liked the paraphernalia, too!

(28,476 posts)And he sounded as if he's campaigning with his me, me, me.
Very surprisingly, Chris M didn't piss me off once! He actually made some really good points.
Thanks for posting these, Rhiannon, especially the bootlegged one. I had to walk the dog and missed the last 20mins, so, yay, I've watched the segments I missed.

(258,834 posts)But Chris Matthews seems to have mellowed a bit and regained his sense of humor.
And I'm glad to hear that you got to see the rest of the show. That's why I post it.

(258,834 posts)Like SC's Mark Sanford, he's held most state offices. But I agree with you, that's exactly how he came off - and like Bill said, with that message he's unlikely to be elected as a Republican in Ohio...

(33,315 posts)Kasich was overbearing and much of what he opined is unrealistic in today's political climate. His assessment/critique on a still very young Biden presidency felt underhanded. It's also way premature. He sounded like he's running in 2024.
Rhiannon12866
(258,834 posts)He's already served as both Ohio governor and congressman and tried running for the Republican presidential nomination twice. Like Bill said, he doesn't stand much of a chance as a Republican now with his moderate beliefs. Or maybe he's just so used to campaigning that he always sounds like that...
Auggie
(33,315 posts)perhaps he's campaigning for one of his own?
Or planning a run for the Senate.

(29,292 posts)I like Democrats who want to get things done, ignore fake populist purity tests about ideological slogans and name-calling of Democrats.
Loved his answer about defund the police, the Orwell quote that some ideas are so stupid only intellectuals can believe them. Pseudo intellectuals are the worst, though.
He continues the progressive ideas of the Democratic Party, the progressive party.
Rhiannon12866
(258,834 posts)Bill said that he hoped that we'd see him again on the show, and I'd love to hear more from him. He's the future of the party.
