1. Given that the entire movie was a thinly-veiled allegory about implicit bias it shouldn't be hard

I found it heavy-handed and somewhat annoying personally ... except for the Sloth scene which was awesome.

But I'm not the target audience really ... I think it's a pretty good kids movie.

4. If you look at it is a kids movie, meant to trigger reactions on more impressionable minds

I think it's a pretty effective movie, and overall I think is a worthwhile project in that context.

But as an adult watching it (someone who already has these sensibilities) I found an awful lot of it a bit groan-worthy in it's obviousness.

And that sensation is probably more acute for people who are racists ... I'm sure it came across as a propaganda to them.

Avatar is another example of a movie where I totally support the 'message', but still found it kinda annoying.

I like a little more subtlety in messaging than was present in either film. I appreciate when ideas are conveyed in a bit more of an artful way. Like when a day goes by and you suddenly realize the allegorical nature of some scene or the story overall.

That's maybe just me

on this subject. They do a great job discussing many of their own mistakes in the past and learning from them.
