(10,495 posts)We fight for climate change legislation but not the thing that will make it successful. We fight for rational gun control, criminal justice reform, immigration
but not against what really prevents us from achieving these goals, campaign finance reform!
The media do not talk about this for a few reasons. One, they are the recipients of all of that campaign money. Two, the big donors are also the big advertisers. They will not advertise on a network that airs stories they dont like. They will actually spew favorable propaganda for their advertisers to get public opinion behind their plans. This is the second root cause of our problems.
We can fight all of these individual issues and make little headway like we have been doing, or we can coordinate all of these causes/groups together and focus on these two root causes. If we were able to get the money out of elections and require truth from our news organizations we can return representative democracy back to the people and away from the oligarchs!

Id add voting infrastructure to your list (gerrymandering, SOSs and legislatures acting with conflicts of interest re: fair elections, etc) plus DC should without a doubt have full congressional representation.

He apologizes there for allowing himself to fall for Greenpeace "deception"...the poor guy, how can he be deceived when that is his job, to deceive the public.
