Health officials are sounding the alarm this holiday weekend about the highly transmissible delta variant of the coronavirus that is causing an increase in COVID-19 cases in the United States. Its greatest threat is to those who are unvaccinated. Judy Woodruff discusses the variant and vaccination progress with the U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy. Aired on 07/02/2021.

1. Poor red states are not taking the vaccine to their ppl. If they want higher vaccination rates

They are going to have to do a lot more outreach! The poorest of the poor in places like Appalachia don’t have electricity or running water let alone a vehicle to drive somewhere to get a vaccine.

2. Now that is something that we can do something about

They've talked about setting up mobile vaccine sites that can go to rural communities where they're needed. If they want to reach the vaccination goals that we want and need, they need to get these organized and moving!
