(1,278 posts)Something I generally don't do in its entirety, I have come to a conclusion that the people that can execute their theorems are either unwilling or unable to do so.
A case can and should be made for the OP video subject to be that person. Isn't that the idea behind a special prosecutor to begin with? Without precident, wouldn't you want someone with experience in taking calculated risks with more success than failure?
In one of the most important events in the history of our republic, I would go all-in; YMMV.

(111,222 posts)going after an outgoing administration. Since the crimes were of such long duration, starting at least 10 years before he ran for office, I don't think this is a huge concern, but I can understand why they'd want to avoid even the appearance of this sort of thing.
I've resigned myself to not seeing Dumdum perp walked for a long time.
What I do expect to see is his kids being hit with tax fraud charges. Even if they avoid prison, the interest and penalties are going to mount up quickly. Eric and Junior might have to get real jobs. Jared might have to strategically divorce Ivanka to get out from under that kind of financial burden. It's going to be quite a mess and they're all going to know it was daddy's bad advice that got them into it.
I fully expect Dumdum to pay a stiff price, he'll be hit with interest and penalties, also, and fraud charges will still be possible down the road, once the administration changes hands. The IRS is very efficient at putting guys who keep two sets of books away for a long time, and that's exactly what his company did and he personally signed off on all of it.
Kirschner is right that other countries have been more willing to prosecute their own crooked leaders, but they haven't done so in a particularly timely way, either.
