(153,111 posts)a friend of mine who was the "wait and see" type happened to be near a doctor's office with a sign "VACCINE WALK-INS WELCOME" - the doctor saw him and actually came out and asked, so, have you been vaccinated? When my friend said no, the doctor said come on in and let's talk about that, no pressure. After about 15 minutes my buddy got his first shot. I am very relieved. Talking to people CAN help. I bet that is why the doctor is wandering out and talking to people.

(204,735 posts)He thought that since he "doesn't go anywhere," he didn't need to vaccinate. But he does go places, not many, but he'll go to the nearby convenience store if he runs out of something, keeps doctor's appointments and picks up his prescription and gets his vehicle inspected. I kept telling him that he was already vaccinated against all sorts of deadly diseases, I can even remember getting vaccinations in school.
So when the nearby vaccine site at the local mall started accepting walk ins, I suggested he could just go there - and I drove him. My brother has been fully vaccinated since May. Nagging sometimes works, too.

(204,735 posts)He's a older gentleman who I've seen at local meetings - I think he's in his mid 80s. I'll bring him coffee since he has trouble working the Keurig they have there. Back when I got finally got the vaccine, I was excited and told people. And he said that he wasn't getting vaccinated since his daughter, who's a nurse at the local hospital, isn't getting the vaccine and he gets his medical advice from her.
How are front line workers not getting vaccinated?? I have two friends who work at that hospital, one in the ER, and both of them were the first I knew to get the vaccine, even though they had to drive downstate to a major hospital to get the Pfizer. And they were grateful to get it! And I know that there have been Covid cases - and deaths - in the local hospital. They always make the front page of the local paper - the most recent death was earlier this week.

(153,111 posts)I am guessing the nurse is one serious Trump humper? I believe vaccines should be a requirement for employment in a hospital

(204,735 posts)Of my two friends, one works in the ER with psychiatric patients - has to wear serious PPE - and the other has a clerical job. They were the first to get it, even though they had to travel, and I was told that they got a $100 bonus for doing so! I was also told that a woman who had worked for over 20 years at a local cancer clinic lost her job for refusing to get the vaccine. So I'd think the same would be true in the hospital where they have active Covid cases.

In his book "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder" he lays out the blueprint for prosecuting Bush and his cronies for the murders of Iraqi civilians and US soldiers because they knowingly sent them to their deaths, he is using the same rules that sent Manson to life in prison.
I wonder if the same rules Bugliosi used against Manson and those he proposed for Bush et al could be used against these republicans, and TV loud mouths at Fox, who some of them have been vaccinated, but are urging their followers to fight against the vaccine knowing they can and that many will die if they contract the COVID-19 virus, in other words, they are sending their believers to their deaths.
They should start with Tucker Carlson, he is the biggest spreader of lies about the vaccine and has a following who believe in the murderous rhetoric he spews night after night on TV.

(204,735 posts)And his acolytes still believe him (even though he got the virus - and has now received the vaccine, though not publicly like Carter, Clinton, Bush and Obama). The one responsible for the deniers - and the hundreds of thousands of deaths) is TFG. As with the Trump organization, first arresting the "money guy," they should start with Tucker Carlson, then move up the chain to Trump.

(5,521 posts)Set close together. Almost a metaphor of only looking in one direction and not seeing left or right, only straight ahead. No peripheral vision. I've noticed this physical attribute in other conservatives/right wingers.
I wonder if others have noticed it.
