Not only was Tennessee vaccine official Dr. Michelle Fiscus fired for doing her job, but the state is now making it harder for teens to get the Covid vaccine as well as pulling back messaging about any vaccine for children of all ages. Aired on 07/13/2021.

Do we want to go back to the days when many children don't survive childhood?! One reminder that I used to convince my brother to get vaccinated was that he's received vaccines his whole life - polio, diphtheria, smallpox, tetanus. I even remember getting some vaccines while in school (though don't ask me what they were). 
Growing up, I hung out a great deal with my grandmother. Her mother died when she was 13, so she also spent a lot of time with her grandmother. And one of her jobs was to cut the grass on the family plot in the cemetery - so I've been there. Her grandmother actually gave birth to 14(!) children, but only 6 of them lived to grow up. That kind of thing happened back then - they would have been my grandmother's uncles and aunts. And I've seen the little stones, Charlie, Nellie, the twins Robert and Leroy. Those babies never had a chance in the late 1800s. Do we really want to go back to those days?? 
So sad that many of our ancestors never had the chance to grow up because science wasn't developed enough.
For them to do this is a crime against humanity, decency, and science!
I live in this hellhole state, so yes, I believe it. Shelby county, where Memphis is located, did a great job mandating virtual only school last year. Gov Lee threatened to cut all their funding.
When health dept. Mandated masks, he & legislature threatened to strip them (all 6 in the state!) Of the power to mandate anything.
Shelby county schools likely saved untold number of lives with virtual only school. Unacceptable to qpukes.
Makes no sense to me why they want their own constituents dead or disabled with long haul. Putin's agenda, perhaps?
Watch all other red states follow suit. Asshat Lee loves to be at the cutting edge of ratf**kery.
I've felt like I'm fortunate to live in New York (despite the snow), but we have our share of RW idiots, too. And there must have been mask mandates in schools since I saw the youngest kids getting off school buses and they were still all wearing masks. But that didn't prevent outbreaks in several local schools, so they returned to virtual learning for a week or two and I wondered at the time what good such a short break would do.
And I've been grateful for Governor Cuomo, too - since he managed to turn around the East Coast virus outbreak that started here (New York City). But now everything's "opened up," just in time for the Delta variant to move right in, just in time for tourist season! And they're here in droves, packing the sidewalks in the Village of Lake George. Last week when I drove through there I saw license plates from as far away as Florida, South Carolina and Georgia!
And today I had a checkup at the doctor and one question they always ask is whether I've left the state. I said I hadn't left the county, LOL. But apparently the rest of the country is coming here! 
I was & grmain grateful to Gov Cuomo as well for leading the nation through a terrible time of crisis.

Well, I guess the docs are doing their best to track anyone who could potentially become ill. Maybe the presumption when they came up with that was that tourists would stay home!
And it was so complicated, involving both in-person and virtual learning, classroom distancing, plans for managing in-school lunches, that I couldn't even follow how it would work - and I can't help wondering how many of those plans changed significantly over time.
My county is currently at 64% vaccinated, which doesn't sound great to me, especially since I'm aware of the number of local vaccination sites, pharmacies, pharmacies in groceries, Walmart, the large state run site in the old Sears store at the local mall - which has neon signs and arrows, inviting those seeking the vaccine in - with many of those taking walk-ins. And totally unlike the beginning when so many I knew were willing to drive to where it was available, including me! So what's the excuse now??
I think I mentioned, early on, an elderly gentleman (mid 80s) I know who told me he wasn't getting vaccinated because his daughter is a nurse and she isn't getting the vaccine - and he gets his medical advice from her. *sigh* Well, I saw him again yesterday and I couldn't help but ask. And he still isn't vaccinated, despite everything, said that his daughter told him she'd quit her job if the vaccine was mandated for employees at the local hospital! And I know they have had Covid patients - and deaths - there, they always make the front page of the local paper and there was one more Covid death just this past week.

I've visited the "family plot" for my grandmother's family - and so many children didn't live to grow up. My grandmother's mother died when she was 13 and her brother was 8, that kind of thing happened, too. Do we really want to go back to those days??
What does it take to convince people to save their and their children's lives?? It really defied logic.
Yesterday, I saw an older gentleman (mid-80s) I'm friendly with at a local meeting. Last I knew, he hadn't gotten vaccinated, so I couldn't help asking him again. But he gave me the same answer, his daughter who is a nurse isn't getting vaccinated and he gets his medical advice from her. And he added that his two granddaughters aren't getting the vaccine, either, since they might want to have children someday! WTF?!
