Police called to mall as white woman is filmed chasing Black woman around Victoria's Secret

Updated 11:14 AM; Today 6:39 AM

By Anthony G. Attrino | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com
Police in Essex County, N.J., were called to the Mall at Short Hills after a Black woman recorded video on her phone of a white woman she says tried to attack her and chased her around a store.

In the video that went viral on social media, the white woman appears to take a swipe at someone until she notices she’s being recorded.

Ijeoma Ukenta, 38, of Newark, says in the video that she started recording after the woman chased her around Victoria’s Secret. Ukenta, who is Black, later told police that the other woman tried to strike her.

“She chased me around the store and tried to attack me twice,” Ukenta says in one of several videos posted to Twitter and YouTube.

“I didn’t try to hit you. Please don’t record me. Don’t record me!” the white woman pleads on the video, her outstretched palm shielding her face.

As Ukenta keeps recording, the other woman complains loudly to store employees that the recording of her violates her rights. “She’s recorded my mental breakdown,” the woman says after she drops to a squatting position.

Abigail Elphick is the New Jersey woman dubbed the "Victoria's Secret Karen" after an incident caught on now-viral video at the Short Hills Mall.

Abigail Elphick is the New Jersey woman dubbed the “Victoria’s Secret Karen.” Video of an incident involving her at the Short Hills Mall has gone viral. The 25-year-old woman was seen on video charging at a Black woman, Ijeoma Ukenta, and then claiming to be the victim. Ukenta posted videos of the incident on TikTok and YouTube.

On Twitter, some people criticized the Millburn Police Department and mall security for not doing more to protect Ukenta. “There were many egregious violations of your rights and overall well being by both Millburn Police Department and Short Hills Mall security. Abigail Elphick should have been arrested {and still needs to be arrested} and at the very least charged with assault & attempted larceny,” wrote one Twitter user. Heavy has contacted Millburn police to get their response as well as the police reports, and both will be added to this story if they are received.

“I was banned off Tik Tok however everyone else was allowed to tell my story. I’m traumatized,” Ukenta wrote on Twitter.

She threatened Ukenta. As soon as Ukenta started recording, she realized she had gone too far. So she threw an overly dramatic fit thinking she could somehow convince bystanders that she was the one being threatened. It worked on some, one woman told Ukenta to put the phone down. I don’t think she is crazy. I think it was calculated. When she pretended to collapse, no one came to assist her. Finally, she claims Ukenta was recording her mental breakdown. Her staged mental breakdown to somehow get her out of trouble. Panic attacks aren’t generally that vocal, and again, bystanders didn’t seem concerned about her health.

This is probably how she is used to behaving. Manipulating and getting her way.
Could she have a mental health issue? YES. Can she be manipulating the situation? YES
Both things can be true at the same time.
People with mental health issues are not above being manipulative.
Borderline personality disorder - people with BPD can be very manipulative.
I don't know that she does, but calling the police to say someone is threatening you, when you are the one thats being aggressive - yeah, manipulative.

"For many people, Black reflects a shared sense of identity and community. White carries a different set of meanings; capitalizing the word in this context risks following the lead of white supremacists."

She wanted attention and her "close up" bit when she got it she did 't like it. She's no Gloria Swanson, or Meryl Streep for that matter. Karen's overacting sucked!!

Now that's a fukin' classic sentence.

"I just came to get my free panties. Got a coupon in the mail." Another classic quote from the video.

My favorite... because it is true... "When the law gets here, who they gonna believe? Her white ass or my black ass."
