(114,667 posts)I no longer drink soda, grocery shopping by cab limits what I can bring home and water flavoring is compact. I've always found these "studies" to be conveniently targeted and generally bogus. Correlation doesn't mean causation, no matter how big the study group is because the numbers are generally minute, or how breathlessly the media megaphone amplifies it.
They find an actual mechanism, I might pay attention.
It's nice to have my bullshit detector backed up by a really for truly researcher.

Editors at even Johns Hopkins get bored now and then and let some junk science slip through, but it usually doesn't last long.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
