I no longer drink soda, grocery shopping by cab limits what I can bring home and water flavoring is compact. I've always found these "studies" to be conveniently targeted and generally bogus. Correlation doesn't mean causation, no matter how big the study group is because the numbers are generally minute, or how breathlessly the media megaphone amplifies it.

They find an actual mechanism, I might pay attention.

It's nice to have my bullshit detector backed up by a really for truly researcher.

If you want more consistently good information, the Johns Hopkins site is much better and doesn't drown people in Medicalese.

Editors at even Johns Hopkins get bored now and then and let some junk science slip through, but it usually doesn't last long.

What are your thoughts on Mayo Clinic? Usually if I want to dig in a bit deeper on stuff I go to Science Based Medicine and some of the science bloggers.
