I think we need to be very worried about this court. They have demonstrated an ideological distaste for protecting the right to vote, says former AG Eric Holder. July 15, 2021

(19,192 posts)handle their own voting rights "problems". Well, there aren't any problems, except for the problems republicans are creating. They're manufacturing drastic solutions for "problems" that don't actually exist, all in the name of preventing voter fraud.
Of course their actual goal is to pare down voting rolls, and paring down people of color specifically, because they primarily vote for Democrats.
The SC doesn't seem too concerned with that though, and since the QOP has long been stacking state houses with republican majorities......... we're fucked, and the SC is perfectly alright with that.

(21,295 posts)is the answer to the bad voting laws may get shocked when the SC backs these undemocratic laws.
We need to add justices but that topic has been shelved and replaced with 24/7 talk about MF45.

(2,690 posts)There the SCOTUS said there was nothing wrong with segregation because it was merely an inconvenience to a certain segment (ahem) of society. Alito revealed himself to be a White Supremacist Fascist saying that the fact that a law inconvenienced" some people didnt make it bad law. Of course not, you KKK supporting freaking Nazi. Because a good law to you and your ilk is any law that keeps blacks and other people of color out of the voting booth so that the fascist plutocratic vote will have more value.
Alito actually wrote: The mere fact that there is some disparity in impact does not necessarily mean that a system is not equally open or that it does not give everyone an equal opportunity to vote. And ridiculed the idea that the libs were calling racially and politically motivated law something that merely posed an inconvenience to some voters. The 5 other fascists on SCOTUS endorsed his opinion.
Alito , as would his fascist and plutocratic cronies on the current SCOTUS, would have sat well on the SCOTUS that ruled on Dred Scott and Plessy. Compare racist Alitos comments to Thurgood Marshalls:
"I wish I could say that racism and prejudice were only distant memories. We must dissent from the indifference. We must dissent from the apathy. We must dissent from the fear, the hatred and the mistrust
We must dissent because America can do better, because America has no choice but to do better.
Who is the American, who the racist dilettante in these quotes?
The current SCOTUS is fascist-plutocratic, plain and simple. Excepting, maybe, Amy Bennet who is just doing whatever it is her husband orders her to do.
