(111,222 posts)However, we could be there for 10 generations as referees between warring factions there and there would still be a bloodbath and likely civil war when we finally leave. It' their country and they need to sort things out and often that is an ugly process, especially when an outside power has delayed it this long.
Yes, it will be terrible. The Taliban will be resurgent and try to push the country back to the 13th century. My guess says they won't stay there long, just long enough to convince themselves they've cleansed themselves of all western influences. It will be difficult to watch, the main people the Taliban declare war on are the female half of the population.

Oh, that's right -- like so many Republicans, and especially the talking heads on Fox Snooze, the closest you've gotten to military service is watching "Operation Petticoat" while you were in college.
