Thought Amazon Couldn't Sink Any Lower?? THINK AGAIN!!!

Last edited Sun Jul 18, 2021, 02:56 PM - Edit history (2)

Russell has a way with topics that I find illuminating and very well thought out.

Capitalism is what the phrase "Love of money is the root of all evil", speaks about. Will you take the Red Pill or the Blue Pill?

While I'm sure it's not a pleasant thing to be fired or let-go from a position... I just can't get worked-up and as outraged about this as Russell does in this rant.

One AI to rule them all.

For someone who was 'worked up' he presented a fairly cogent argument / rant.

Then boycott Amazon.

Why aren't they employees? Why shouldn't they have protections?
Because they use their own vehicles. They fill a need for "last mile" delivery services. They set their own hours/schedule. They like the flexibility. It sounds a lot like like "grubhub" or "uber".

Here's the FAQ about what it takes to become a Flex-driver... the requirements and benefits. Sounds okay to me.

https://flex.amazon.com/faq

These people know what they're signing up for. If they don't like it, they can quit... someone else will gladly take on the extra work and money.

Sure, every system can be improved, but I think it's a bit extreme and over-the-top to literally "despise" it.

You like the idea of workers being able to negotiate for better working conditions?

You like having a volunteer fire department.

These are communist things capitalists hate as profit motive isn't the motive behind it.

Your ignorance about the damage capitalism does and what socialism really is disturbing..

No they're not.

Oh good lord, spare me. That's not Socialism. That's not Communism.

I haven't called you "ignorant" why do you think it's okay to accuse me of being "ignorant"? What good purpose does that serve?

Goodbye.

I was arguing communism

Socialism is Nazi type stuff right?

That was not what I was arguing for.

Sometimes I get emotional because I see the suffering capitalism causes and it pisses me off.

I thought socialism communism were interchangeable terms.

They wouldn't be successful without them as pure Laissez-faire capitalism would eventual fail because of it's inhumanity and cruelty in pursuing more and more profit.

That includes the American and social democracies of Europe.

IIRC there hasn't been a successful, strictly socialist system. The communism of the USSR, a form of socialism, failed spectacularly. China has evolved out of its decades long dance with it also. And Cuba is having social upheaval as we speak.

Perhaps the co-operative system in the Mondragon region of Spain comes closest to socialism (workers owning the means of production), but it has strong capitalist aspects as well as its products have to compete in market capitalism...and is having some problems. So what it looks like is successful economic systems are combinations of capitalism and socialism arrived at eventual from the left, right or center.

eventually will devolve into cruelty, inhumanity and monopolist oligarchies which care more for profit than anything else, even the planet.

Successful economies have to have government regulation to curb the greed inherent in pure capitalism while also an established and strong social safety net for its people. Viola...a combination of both capitalism and socialism.
