Related: About this forumDefendant Hodgkins Receives Lenient Sentence. How Will It Impact Other Insurrection Prosecutions?
Glenn Kirschner
A DC Federal Court Judge, Randy Moss, gave an inexplicably lenient sentence to defendant Paul Hodgkins after he pleaded guilty to obstructing a congressional proceeding by trying to stop the certification of the presidential election results. The applicable sentencing guideline range was 15 to 21 months, yet Judge Moss sentenced Hodgkins to only 8 months in prison. What are the pros and cons to the way the Hodgkins case finished up and what is the potential impact of the lenient sentence on the more than 500 insurrection cases currently pending trial? Here is an overview of those and other issues.

(24,590 posts)1. that fucker should have gotten way more
than 8 months. I got 18 for filing bankruptcy too often. I was doing this to keep getting medical treatment due to having cancer while being uninsured. I had insurance the first time I had cancer, but then was dropped the second time I had it. This was pre ACA (1987-2000)

(13,003 posts)2. I fear this
is a harbinger of things to come.........a TOTAL AND COMPLETE travesty of our justice system..........
I just can't wait to see what other insurrectionists get for their especially egregious acts that harmed or killed Police.
Without Severe punishment for such a serious act, this crowd has no deterrent and will act again and again......
