'This is like listening to Nixon drunk rambling': Cooper reacts to new Trump audio (CNN)

Talking with CNN's Anderson Cooper, authors Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker of "I Alone Can Fix It: Donald J. Trump's Catastrophic Final Year" share audio recordings of their interview with former President Donald Trump, where he shared his thoughts about the crowd during his January 6 speech before the deadly US Capitol insurrection.

Many, many people have said this.

He is going back and forth between acting like a used car sales person trying to sell you a load of BS and acting like he truly believes this ridiculous nonsense.

Is he acting or is he really crazy...Michael Wolfe, a writer of books about tRump, said he thinks the fucking moron is crazy. It may have been an act at one time but now he is just plain nuts.

Now, people barely shrug.

SMDH. This resonates with only a relatively small part of the population, and does not resonate AT ALL with those in the position of doing something about it.

Therein lies the problem.

…In our world, it’s called lying.

He is a virtual master at deflection and blame-shifting. He’s just doubled down on his election claims — you won’t convince him otherwise.. It is truly like listening to a boring drunk ramble.

Dangerously mentally ill. And that mental illness has two and a half years to fester, with a GOP that will be more than happy to enable it.

Prescribed, and pethaps otherwise.

This armchair MD will also throw in dementia.. He can never finish a sentence, uses the same few words over and over…something ain’t right. He can’t seem to follow others’ questions or trains of thought, either. Complexity confuses him. He is ill.

He was unfit to run in 2016, and will be even dangerously more so in 2024.

And he may have had other minor ones afterward. There’s a reason for his difficulty descending the ramp at West Point. There was also a video of him swinging his right foot slightly to walk forward, along with his inability for a time to hold a water glass in one hand.

The reason I think it was a serious medical issue is that you don’t alert the VP to be prepared to take over if the president is having a routine checkup.

Trump’s father was not formally diagnosed with dementia until he was in his early 80s, but Trump may be progressing faster because of his drug use and his continued addiction and probable abuse of Adderall, and who knows what other drugs.

people who's only goal was to keep their jobs by telling him exactly what he wanted to hear. This alternate set of facts created an alternative reality for him. The same is true for his presidency.
Why would anyone think that this person would act any other way? The brainwashing of a "leader" takes place unwittingly by the very folks that are able to keep their positions around that leader by feeding that leader deceptive and untrue information.

The making of a diva... A person of wealth or fame, or both, fires anyone in their immediate circle who doesn't agree with absolutely everything they say/think/believe and re-fill the spot with people who do, until their inner-circle includes ONLY people who agree with absolutely everything they say/think/believe. It's at this point that the diva can only believe what they are hearing. It must be true because everyone in my inner-circle believes it too. The lie becomes the reality.

It's not insanity, it's ego.

I’m looking forward to reading Leonnig and Rucker’s book. Out of all of them so far, A Very Stable Genius ranks near the top. I’m sure this one will be just as good.

...I believe that some of this interview with his lies on top of lies, will be his..."permanent legacy."

.
.Donald Trump defends himself in a way that solidifies that he is/was/ and always will be a liar and nothing else. This is a great tape with lie on top of lie. And he proves that he is a liar
beyond a doubt.

Anderson Cooper does an outstanding interview with the authors of the book. And the authors have
done all of us a service by writing this book, and also doing this interview. These two have the background and experience to prove who is telling the truth, and who is lying over and over and over.

And know the feeling. He is the perfect storm, the Katrina of his handlers. They can/could never predict what he might do or say. Even when he repeats himself, he frequently goes off on a totally different tangent. He creates chaos, but managing chaos is not an easy task even if your goal is to spread chaos. That is why the pubs are so frantic. They didn't get what they expected and they can't shut him up and their best bet is to 'prove' to everyone he's crazy. He may be crazy, just as Katrina may have been a hurricane, but that is not the whole story. There were lots of ancillary events that made everything worse and in the case of TFG, the pubs trying to cover their asses are the broken levees, the Brownie and his FEMA failures, the awful history or racism and graft, and the coverups that just made a total shit stew of an already awful situation.

I really did, and mainly to try and understand how it is even possible for anybody to believe what he is saying.

Instead, I'm more convinced than ever that Trumpers are dangerous. -- And in a way comparable to Jim Jones followers having their collective finger on the football.

Trumpers should not be allowed out in public.
