2. To me Machiavelli, was the code to understanding the mannerly but brutal ways of the old wealthy.

Not only an understanding but a guide for the path to power and riches if those were your goals.

I say old wealthy because for a few generations now, some newer wealthy don't bother with the manners and outward courtesies except privately among themselves.

I've read Machiavelli, and he (and this OP about him) are on the money. But for me, this set of videos hits harder and is more effective - today.
