(6,699 posts)I have serious doubts.....but we knew very little of the corruption of the puppet government we had supported for the past 20 years. A lot remains to be seen. I hope for Afghanistan's sake, the Taliban don't resort to their past practices. We will see.

(206,247 posts)When I was in the USSR, most younger people spoke English, some with British accents. At first I mistook them for British, then I figured out why.

Plus a lot of other unsavory things.
But are they any good at running a country?
After 20 years of being fighters, I don't expect them to be.
So what next? Tribal wars, starvation? Oh, and COVID . . . seems no one speaks about COVID in Afghanistan.
