I have serious doubts.....but we knew very little of the corruption of the puppet government we had supported for the past 20 years. A lot remains to be seen. I hope for Afghanistan's sake, the Taliban don't resort to their past practices. We will see.

When I was in the USSR, most younger people spoke English, some with British accents. At first I mistook them for British, then I figured out why.

We know they are good at terrorizing civilians, and how to shoot guns.
Plus a lot of other unsavory things.

But are they any good at running a country?

After 20 years of being fighters, I don't expect them to be.

So what next? Tribal wars, starvation? Oh, and COVID . . . seems no one speaks about COVID in Afghanistan.

Who's going to provide vaccines? And how are they going to administer it in a rural mountainous country where most of the citizens are now going to be in hiding??
