We thought the Afghanistan trip by Congressmen Seth Moulton (D-MA) & Peter Meijer (R-MI) was selfish. Their objective view on the exit makes the trip well worth it.

Exactly.
Trump's plan was to either a) reneg on the Taliban deal had he been re-elected (the whole thing sounded like an election-year ploy); or b) follow through - but pull out, overnight, like an Afghan dictator fleeing for his life with his millions.
Which, of course, would be predictably Trumpian of him.

(13,286 posts)What if more congressmen had thought, "What a great way to get attention"? There was absolutely nothing they could do by showing up in person. They can't give orders. All they could do was divert people away from the critical work that had to be done.
As far as seeing what was going on, it was live on CNN in real time. And if they wanted to know what problems occurred, they only have to call hearings when everything was over.
No, this was a childish, crappy thing to do to the men and women who were engaged in a life-or-death operation. CNN shouldn't have given them the air-time to use in their next elections.
