I've often wondered this myself. What is the big tragedy if they get primaried and lose? They go on to do something else.

For people who insist that Washington and Congress are out of touch and full of elites and that the "real people" are all back at home working regular jobs, these people sure go through a lot of trouble to continue being part of the elite and avoid being around real people.
