Jan. 6 Committee Chair: Witnesses Who Defy Subpoenas Will Face Criminal Contempt Referrals - MSNBC



Chairman Bennie Thompson told NBC News that the January 6th Select Committee has been meeting with voluntary witnesses, while also preparing to use criminal contempt referrals for subpoenaed witnesses who defy their orders. Paul Butler tells Jonathan Capehart that these criminal contempt referrals could carry significant weight under the Biden administration. Aired on 10/01/2021.

I was afraid that this investigation could end up with the same empty results as both impeachments. And this is a really good committee, both head impeachment managers are on it - so they know the facts and are determined to get to the bottom of all of this and deliver results this time!

That bastard has been allowed to skate away free as a bird - with decades of his dirty tricks unavenged and him facing absolutely No accountability whatsoever. And what does THAT teach us all? That you can fuck people up and/or over and suffer no consequences and pay no penalty. What’s the takeaway from THAT “teachable moment”?

Trump's inner circle will defy these subpoenas and laugh at the criminal contempt referrals. I hope "significant weight" means they'll end up in jail.
