I had my 3rd Pfizer a week ago Friday & will schedule my flu shot for this coming Friday. 👍

(206,520 posts)As for the Shingrix, got that last year after speaking to a woman I know who got Shingles. She said it was so painful that she cut off her hair! The only issue I had was that you're supposed to get the second shot within 6 months of the first - and since the pandemic hit right after I got shot #1, Walgreens suspended giving vaccines, so I just got shot #2 just in time. I also got the flu vaccine last year, though they said that flu cases were way down last season. This pandemic is turning all of us into vaccine "collectors!"

(13,580 posts)Moderna was going to have flu vax in it. What if a person not knowing this goes out and gets the flu vax, then gets the Moderna booster when its available?

(206,520 posts)I'm still waiting on the Moderna booster since I've heard it might contain the flu vaccine, but last year I got both the Shingrix and a flu shot - and two Moderna shots so far this year. And here in my rural New York county, they're also sending out mobile vaccine units for those who aren't near doctors' offices or pharmacies.

(206,520 posts)I got the Moderna, so that would certainly be convenient - and a really helpful idea!

(47,651 posts)I got the Moderna booster and flu shot in one arm and it was really painful.
If I had it to do over again I would get one shot in each arm.

(47,651 posts)Turns out I should have gotten one shot in each arm.
My daughter who is a medical professional says to get the shot in your dominant arm, because you will use it more and this helps distribute the vaccine and prevent soreness.

With the flu and Covid vaccine in the same spot, I could hardly move my arm for three days.

(47,651 posts)Oh no, a year and a half ago I fell down some stairs and broke my leg and ankle.
Not fun at all, I feel really for sorry for the teacher.....
If she needs surgery, I hope she can get in somewhere.
I had to wait for two weeks to get a surgical appointment and surgery due to covid shutting down the
surgical centers. I ended up having to get the orthopedic repair of my leg in a cardiac hospital.
The ortho staff were angry, throwing instruments around because they couldn't find their usual equipment.
I just prayed I didn't get a heart transplant by accident.

(5,729 posts)It took a damn pandemic, but Kaiser Permanente finally hooked up with Walgreens, CVS and other pharmacies to cover flu shots rather than have car-free schmucks like me do walk-ins to overwhelmed facilities. The clerk at the counter in Walgreens' wasn't even aware of this development when I showed up for my appointment, but it was sorted quickly.
