(16,993 posts)and the hate radio stations push? People want to blame FB but they didnt start this. As far as groups coordinating events there are other platforms out there that people can and do use. FB is an easy target because its easier to blame one person, Zuckerberg, then a corporation.

(70,021 posts)so, my experience as a lefty DOES NOT correspond to what i keep hearing.
on youtube, i subscribe to msnbc, but i still have to hunt down the shows that i want to see, and get all kinds of stuff in my feed after watching, say, rachel, then lawrence, and next up is colbeert or kimmel. and then there's crappy copies of movies like the one i watched on another platform. so, the algorithm does not serve up more of what you want if what you want is lefty news.
that said, the point about transparency. if you asked me what i wanted served up in my feed, guess what? i'd engage more.
the algorithm picks up shit that is so hit or miss. always showing me ads for shit that you are picking up cookies for, guess what? that never works. picking up content related to the stuff i bought, that might. so, why dont you ask me if i want more content about chickens, instead of showing me ads from people i didnt buy chicken feed from. part of the answer is that you dont care if i buy the chicken feed, you just care if you get to charge them a nickel cuz their ad ran through my feed.
why dont you just ask me what i am interested in, instead of spying on me, and trying to figure it out?
