Sergeant, Eric Huxley is facing two felony charges and has been suspended without pay after body camera video showed him kick Jermaine Vaughn, 38, in the face while helping to arrest the man on Sept. 24. The Officers responded to Monument Circle after a call of disorderly conduct. According to the probable cause affidavit, Sgt. Christopher Kibbey heard Vaughn being "loud and disorderly," and asked him to quiet down. When he didn't, Officer Matthew Shores arrested him. While Vaughn was in handcuffs, body cam video shows Officer Shores forced him to the ground. While he was on his back with his hands in cuffs, Sgt. Huxley kicked him in the face. The affidavit notes blood could be seen on Vaughn's mouth after he was kicked and indicates the man suffered a laceration to his lower lip. Vaughn was charged with resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct, but those charges were dismissed Oct. 8, according to court records. Sgt. Huxley claimed he accidentally kicked Vaughn in the face when he meant to place his foot on Vaughns shoulder, an affidavit said. Two other officers involved in the arrest have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, police said.
