(130,516 posts)1. Of course he's out on bail; the crime he committed was a misdemeanor.
Nobody, however odious they might be, gets pretrial detention for a nonviolent misdemeanor. The crime he was charged with wasn't coup-plotting - maybe that will come later - it was failing to respond to a congressional subpoena.

Go back and ask him after a couple weeks in jail if he's ready to talk. He'll probably have a change of heart.
If they put him in jail and indict the others who won't testify, I think they'll begin to crack. Those people won't be able to handle being in jail for even a short period.
