(28,493 posts)I am not in a nursing home, although I'm easily in that age range at 73. I did get a booster shot last Friday, the 10th. It was Pfizer. My first shot was Johnson & Johnson. I am also someone who is remarkably healthy, never gets sick, never gets what is going around. So, especially with the vaccine and then the booster, I feel wonderfully protected. Oh, and I'll be getting the next booster when warranted.

(258,602 posts)I'm not candidate for a nursing home, either, but cases have gone way up in my county and as of yesterday New York has reinstated the mask mandate. I wish they'd never rescinded it, but it was "tourist season" in these parts..."

(28,493 posts)Mask wearing is almost universal here. For which I am very grateful. I live alone, and I don't go out very much, although I don't have food delivered to my home. Mainly because I prefer to select the meat and the veggies that I want. Personal choice here.
I'm long since retired, so I don't have to deal with going in to a work place.
I was recently in the DC area, dealing with a family health crisis, and I was gratified to see nearly universal mask wearing there.

(258,602 posts)And since I'm in Northeastern New York, it's winter. But it was unseasonably mild today. And we had a mask mandate for over a year to enter any store or business. People were used to it. But then they rescinded it back in July just in time for "tourist season." I'm just south of Lake George Village and driving north, I saw license plates from states as far away as Florida, Alabama and Utah! Last year everything remained closed, I guess they couldn't afford to do it for a second year. *sigh*
I've been out twice since the mask mandate was back in place. Late Monday, I stopped at a small grocery in Lake George to pick up a couple of things and the only other patron in the store was a woman who I saw go through the checkout ahead of me, a woman with no mask even though there are clear signs on every entrance. And the thing is, who is supposed to enforce this, the young girl at the checkout? It's very frustrating - again.

(181,906 posts)I am part of a study where I get my antibody tested. On Sept 2, my antibody level was 79.5 on a 2500 scale. I got a booster and on Nov. 27 my antibody level was in excess of 2500.

(258,602 posts)I got my booster a week ago today - Moderna - and though I felt pretty rotten that night and the next day (same symptoms as after shot #2), I'm so grateful to have gotten it. Now I'm working on my brother. *sigh*
