Lawrence: Manchin's 'No' Doesn't Mean That Biden's Agenda Is Dead - The Last Word - MSNBC

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is pledging the Senate will 'consider the Build Back Better Act very early in the new year' after Sen. Joe Manchin quashed the current negotiations on the bill. MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell explains why Manchin's move does not mean the legislation is dead. Aired on 12/20/2021.

The optic alone are bad and it is obvious that Manchin
is acting as proxy for the GOP and monied iinterests
and they are not going to let this bill pass until they gut key social spending and protect their interests.

So @$#% Manchin. As others have said I hope that it made abundantly clear to the residents of WVA and the rest of the countrywhat assistence Manchin has denied them. Win or lose he should be exposed. He needs to pay price for his public back stabbing and interference with the Presidents and his parties agenda.

But the rub is, if he's replaced by the voters as senator, which party would they vote for?? That's why Manchin gets to skate those of his opinions which aren't shared by most Senate Democrats...

Work for people instead of "buggering" them. Manchins alleged comments about how the residents of WVA would hsve used the money to buy drugs and leave time to go hunting makes him the poster boy for what is wrong with givernent. In WVA many of those "people hunting" would probably be trying to put food on the table.

Showing Kerry's speech and giving the backstory was brilliant on O'Donnell's part. It gave us realistic hope, lowered the temperature and--in my opinion--was designed to persuade Manchin in a way that didn't alienate him and to give him a roadmap for how to get to yes while saving face and undoing the damage to his reputation.
