Sounds like a tongue in cheek look at medieval England. From what I've seen, it has lots of singing.

but I see on the wiki that it had some pretty interesting recurring characters on board...Rutger Hauer, Vinnie Jones, Al Yankovic...a cameo by Kylie Minogue as the Queen of The Enchanted Forest, a Medieval gay bar, and lots and lots of singing. Definitely has a Men In Tights vibe to it.
