years ago.....we'll, I like to say not that many years ago. I remember going as a child with my parents when they went to vote. The voting "booths" were huge with a curtain that you pulled closed after you walked in. The voting machines had levers for every candidate on the ballot. You could vote straight ticket then or for individual candidates. The part I miss the most is the democratic precinct captains that were at least 6 deep in front of every polling place. Yes, I lived in Chicago. They worked those precincts and they delivered every time....politics IS local.

Just a couple of years since we had those type of machines here in NY.
I worked on them, and they were impossible to mess with. They were mechanical, and there were so many interlocks, which made it impossible to interfere with the vote.
