Booker: Are We Comfortable With Average Black Voter Waiting Twice As Long As Average White Voter?

As the Senate begins debate on federal voting rights protections, many Republicans would have you believe there is no election subversion taking place in GOP-leaning states. Sen. Cory Booker joins Joy Reid to discuss. Aired on 01/18/2022.

It has been a long time since they were produced, we really need better election laws guaranteeing rights or the struggle just keeps going on.

We need to expand the opportunities for early voting, not to mention absentee ballots, to prevent crowds. The governor here in New York sent every voter an absentee ballot for the 2020 presidential primary and I was grateful. These opportunities need to be expanded, while Republican-controlled states are eliminating ways to make voting more convenient by reducing the number of polling places and eliminating drop boxes.

Let people vote at any poll they want. When a bunch of people of color start showing up in the rich folks polling stations, they will shorten that line up real quick.

For the first time, my New York county offered Early Voting in 2020 at one of the county buildings for a couple of weeks before election day. That shortened lines at polling places on election day and made voting more convenient for voters.
