(6,169 posts)It took him this long to say this because he's had his head up his ass for the past year.
Justice matters.
(6,925 posts)He's a coward. A Republican coward. And if he doesn't ask the committee immunity to tell them all he knows (and not plead the 5th) he could be charged with covering up for 13 months... or longer.

(6,169 posts)The forces of justice are gathering and Pence knows he can be deemed complicit by virtue of his silence. He knew all that went on leading up to the assault.
As long as he didn't feel threatened by the investigation he was perfectly fine with saying nothing. And, what he has said is the bare minimum to put some separation between him and the Trump conspiracy to overturn the election.
But, he's burned his bridges behind him as far as the Republicans are concerned.
I want to see what he'll do next.

(3,386 posts)"patriotism", that is just a marketing plot the republicans have fed the public, a public that hears but cannot see. If you go through the history of this country you will understand that the republican party has always been about greed, grift, punishing those who are not white or rich, but never about the country, it is just talk, that is the only thing they are good at, rhetoric and lies.
The only difference now is that they don't care to show their true colors, the same as white supremacists who have been in a closet for a long time but have now been given carte blanch to show who they really are, to be as violent as they have always been wanting to be...
So please, stop trying to paint the republican party as something they have never been, they have only been about the talk and too many people, contrary to the republican actions, have decided to believe them.
