Republican Party Agrees That Insurrections Are 'Legitimate Political Discourse' - Ring of Fire

In their resolution to officially censure Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, the Republican Party let a disturbing truth slip out. They refer to the investigation by the January 6th Committee as persecution of individuals engaged in "legitimate political discourse," meaning they believe the insurrection was a perfectly acceptable event. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what this means and why everyone should be on edge about it.

That if Trump/DeadSantis and the Stealpublicans take command in 2024, it will be perfectly acceptable for large groups of Americans to engage in the same types of "legitimate political discourse" that went on in 1/6. It's a shame we didn't know that in 2000 and 2016 when they stole the elections but it's nice to know now.

The better description of what happened on January 6th was an attempted coup. The thugs that illegally entered the Capitol and committed crimes up to and including murder were simply window dressing for the real action in Congress where Trump's legislative coup attempt unfolded.

It's ridiculous to present this riot as being a form of political discourse, or even political protest. But not especially surprising.

The one thing you can say about Republicans is that they are consistent.
