3. I don't understand the gain for the people tricking them into registering as republicans.

It won't change the way the people they tricked vote in general elections; if anything it will encourage these erstwhile Democrats to vote. The don't make money from these people changing parties. I see how there are victims, but where is the benefit?

In MO, we don't have to register a party affiliation. I can ask for any party-specific ballot, I want.
