Across the Desk - S5:E5 (The Oklahoma GOP attack on Medical Marijuana)

This week on Across the Desk, Kit talks about several kooky and outlandish bills designed to kill the medical marijuana industry in the state of Oklahoma. Some increase penalties by 3x the amount... Another that forces anyone wanting a marijuana business to submit a question to be put on the ballot to put it up for a vote, But it can only be put on the ballot during a General Election.. And more ways (R)s are trying to kill that 'free market' that they are always praising about...

Some of it, like Manchin's antics, is purely self serving, the man wants to make coal king again so he can get richer. Much of it is pure arrogance, thinking a temporary title in DC has somehow made them wiser than the rest of us. And some of it, mostly on the GOP side, is pure religious zealotry. All of it has damaged this country for decades as we march off into third world status, fewer and fewer of us able to see the American Dream as anything but a cruel fantasy meant to keep us in line.

As long as they can maintain the illusion, the people they're oppressing will continue to vote for them in the names of self delusion and law and order, although people are starting to wake up that the latter are a farce when it comes to the sainted rich and holy corporation.

I have no idea how much longer this is going to go on. As long as people continue to think prosperity is just around the corner and conservatives are both wise and prudent, expect more of the same both in OK and the US in general.

Tl:dr: It's not just OK. It's everywhere.
