Daunte Wrights killer Kim Potter being sentenced to 2 years in prison, when sentencing guidelines called for 6-8 years, is decried by legal expert Elie Mystal. Judge Chu wants us to look at things through Potter's eyes? I say no, Mystal tells Joy Reid. I will look at things through Daunte Wright's eyes. I can imagine the last thing Daunte Wright saw. (1,364 posts)she is just a little to comfy in MN. She needs to move to Texas to see how well she will be treated. What a racist - I don't need to see through the eyes of a murderer.

(5,383 posts)On July 15, 2017, Justine Damond (née Ruszczyk), a 40-year-old Australian-American woman, was fatally shot by 33-year-old Somali-American Minneapolis Police Department officer Mohamed Noor.
He has been sentenced to 57 months in prison.
Note the respective skin colors there.
Compare that to the skin colors of the people in his case. 24 months, with the Judge's regretful tears.
See a difference?
In both cases, the sentences are far too light.
Police officers have a responsibility to act appropriately in every situation.
If they can't be trusted armed out in public, they should NOT be on the police force.
Mohamed Noor panicked, and fired shots across the face of his police car driver, simply because he was startled.
Kim Potter didn't know her left from her right. Despite there being a difference in the weight and feel of the two weapons.
I don't accept her explanation, Noor's sounds more realistic.
But 'Oops!' doesn't cut it in either of the two cases.
It's pretty much a rubber stamp approval for police forces around the country to keep on doing what they do.
