Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO) - 2/18/22

Monologue: The Beginning of the Endemic

Bill recaps the top stories of the week, including the Rams' Super Bowl victory, Donald Trump's tax shenanigans, and Florida's new anti-LGBTQ legislation.

Seriously Funny Dramas

TV networks are rebooting some of their most beloved comedy series – but this time they're deadly serious.

New Rule: Stop Kowtowing to China

Here's the deal China offers American companies and celebrities: we’ll give you access to our billion-plus consumers, as long as you shut up about the whole “police state-genocide” thing.

Overtime: John Avlon, Katrina Vanden Heuvel, Brooke Jenkins

Bill Maher and his guests answer viewer questions after the show.

Here's a "bootleg" version of the show which includes the entire interview with former San Francisco Assistant District Attorney Brooke Jenkins (7:25), entire panel discussion with John Avlon and Katrina Vanden Heuvel (15:58), and includes the opening part of New Rules (44:47). It won't last long, as usual:

2. Agreed, good panel, not to mention some very funny bits.

And I also liked former San Francisco Assistant District Attorney Brooke Jenkins who I'd never heard of before.

4. I was impressed with her, too - and Bill brought up Kamala Harris and Amy Klobuchar

Who held similar positions. I'm guessing she has a bright future.

I haven't watched Bill in at least 6 months. I did not laugh once but got more and more frustrated by that chatty Kathy woman. My gawd, shut up woman. I really wanted to watch John Avlon. I enjoy his reality checks on CNN and will watch New Day often to see them. Unfortunately, my cable channel switches over to CNN International without broadcasting the full show to another London based program and I shut it off. I miss Reality Checks often.

Bill has completely jumped the shark. I will not bother to waste another hour + watching him tear down the liberal side of the political aisle anymore. He did nothing but bash them and I'm done with that. He can F* off for all I care. Sorry but after wasting an hour watching that, I'm in a bad mood.

Have a great weekend to you and everyone else at DU.

8. Awww, I thought it was a good show, though the interrupting was frustrating

I particularly like his initial guest, thought she was well spoken and smart, hoping we hear more from her. And I've liked New Rules lately, think last weeks was the only one I disagreed with. And I agree that John Avlon was good, I wasn't familiar with him before, either.

I don't think bashing Dems is going to keep his show active much longer or at least hope so. I used to watch your posted clips all of the time but he (Maher) become insufferable. Again thanks for sharing.

12. Well, opinion seems to be divided and I've been posting Bill Maher since 2017

After people would post videos that would disappear, so I found those that are permanent. So it's now expected for those who look for them.

I really appreciate you posting the clips I can watch in Europe. Some sites are blocked here.
I have watched Maher for at least a decade but it’s harder now.

Then you've been one I posted this for. And I agree that some parts/weeks are better than others. But since the pandemic I've noticed that there have been fewer objectionable guests. I figured that they were there to make the discussion more "interesting," but I could have done without them and there were episodes I skipped back then because of them. And the last time one of them was on the panel, the other guest was Malcolm Nance who left him in the dust...

These days, there are fewer high profile guests, but I'm willing to give them a chance. I'd never heard of a lot of them, like former SF DA Brooke Jenkins last night who I liked a lot.

He's a walking, talking, bumper sticker. Is that what CNN has devolved to?, I quit watching long ago as they tried to be more like Fox.

Well, Bill got his 'normalization' of covid. I guess 2,500 people dying of covid daily, atop the seven thousand that die daily, is the new normal he's OK with. He must own stock in the funeral industry.

And just because little children don't routinely die from covid doesn't mean a couple thousand haven't died. Apparently he's fine with a couple thousand little children dying, so long as he doesn't have the hassle of wearing an oppressive mask.

Since the pandemic, he's had mostly lesser known guests and has had some pretty interesting ones. I liked the guests on this one and New Rules have been quite good, I liked this one, just wasn't a fan of last week's. And I especially liked the return of Overtime, when guests answer viewer questions.

Maybe I'll start tuning in again. I heard about his covid views, though, and got a little concerned. But I'll take a look again. Tx.

18. Bringing up the NBA and China reminds me of Republicans

The NBA lost over $200 million in revenue and their games were blacklisted in China after the Tweet from the Rockets GM. Lebron James was playing a preseason game in China at the time I think he preferred to get out of China before the backlash to the Tweet. Besides the NBA isn’t the only business that has business in China. The NFL is trying to market their game to international markets, they gave the Rams to China.

Bill Maher, interrupts along with other douche. They were being jerks to the lone woman on the panel. Bill wants to side with the smear that all Democrats are being too liberal, etc. Trumps out so filet the Democrats. His views on covid. Just lose weight. Stupid. I am tire of the BS. I don't think I will be tuning in again.
