It's a completely different country than Russia, more Middle Eastern in culture and traditions including a different language. Under Russia, all the signs were in two languages and Russian became the "official" language. I was puzzled to see numerous statues of Stalin who was out of favor at the time - so I asked and was told that Stalin was Georgian and he was popular in Georgia because he killed so many Russians. Georgia is obviously vehemently anti-Russian...
