Republicans Are "Petrified" That Trump Is Ruining Their Midterm Chances - Ring of Fire

According to new reports, Republicans across the country are "petrified" because they believe Donald Trump is ruining their chances for a Red Wave in November's midterm elections. By injecting himself into races that he has no business meddling in, the former President is putting his name on candidates and making himself the big issue of 2022 - and that's not good because the public still isn't a big fan of his. Ring of Fire's Farron Cousins explains what's happening.

Democratic voters will need to double their turnout and their campaign contributions.

The GOP literally created a monster when they gave him their presidential nomination in 2016. Since he managed to cheat his way into office, all he's done is create mountains of problems for them. Whatever elections he's helped Repugs win have been more than offset by an endless tsunami of headaches and bad publicity for the party, and it just keeps on getting worse. Now he's completely out of control and charging around like the rogue elephant he is!

Enjoy, Repukes. You have only your own stupid selves to blame.

They're doubling down on his philosophies, and they're winning elections.

His illegal activities and immoral character are attractive to their cult. Everyday - sites like DU have 5-10 prominent Trump stories - with maybe 1-2 Biden stories. They're still playing us, and we're losing.

But what I have never understood is why anyone would consider nominating - or voting for - such an unqualified, offensive blowhard. He was offensive from the beginning with his attacks on another Republican, war hero and previous presidential nominee John McCain - and he got even worse after that. He supported our long-time adversaries, ignored a global pandemic, gassed people to remove them from a church, lied at every opportunity, yet when he was hospitalized for Covid and forced Secret Service agents to drive him around in a sealed vehicle so he could wave to bystanders, a grown man shouted that he "loved" him!

That is different from the emotions of doubt or skepticism. He is an inspiration to those who can live paranoia and see behind every situation to their own interpretation that jolts their anger - and they believe their own shit is true.

We - Dems, the whole country - are facing a problem of distorted thinking. The cult is a mass mental illness.

Your idea of mass mental illness is a very important over arching idea. I hope that mental health experts at DU can chime in and explore this phenomenon. This is the key to understand what is happening to our country.
