intelligence that he is panning on attacking NATO?

5. Having spent time in the old USSR, that's what I've always believed

What I don't understand is why any of the Russian people (except Putin's fellow oligarchs) would go along with this. They welcomed Gorbachev's progressive policies and obviously could have no wish to return to those repressive times. Those we met were just like us, wanted a better life for themselves and their children - not to mention, having experienced the horrors of WWII fought on their own land, peace with their neighbors and the world.

Ukrainians, they weren't told the truth about Putin's intentions.

7. I feel very bad for the Russian people, they had such hope and don't deserve to be dragged back

To the repressive days of the USSR, let alone to die in a Putin war of choice.
