Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO) - Police Interrogations

John Oliver discusses the tactics that can make police interrogations so damaging, particularly for the innocent, and why he’s more of a Lorelai than a Rory.

And here's a "bootleg" version of the show which contains John's opening comments on current events (a Tennessee state lawmaker supporting criminalization of camping on public grounds, Dr. Oz and the Midterms, chocolate bunnies). It won't last long, as usual:

...of a very serious subject.

Police are trained to intimidate and control, and they get a lot of practice, so the best thing you can do is NEVER voluntarily give an interview to the police. If you're ever arrested, shut up and ask for a lawyer. DON'T TALK TO THE POLICE. They are not you friends and their job advancement is based on their solving cases, not protecting your rights.

Should you be foolish enough to consent to an interview, you can end that interview at any time unless you're put under arrest. Don't be that foolish in the first place.
