From what I've seen - mainly from the genteel Mr. Garland - I no longer have much hope that it won't in fact happen.

It might all come down to Chief Justice Roberts - which would be a lot better than the alternative; but it's certainly no way to run a democracy.

The world's indispensable democracy, least of all.
