Russia is awash in fabulous natural resources, many yet to be discovered since Brezhnev only built the northern line of the Trans Siberian railway in the 70s and 80s and opened up that part of the country to exploration. Most of the wealth Putin and his fellow mobsters have looted has come from that part of the country. Had it been used to keep building up the country, Russia would be a world class player.
