We have seen action from one member of Congress that I have to say is among the most egregious political malpractice I think I have ever seen in my life, says Chris Hayes on Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney and the NY redistricting map. Aired on 05/19/2022.

Me.
(35,454 posts)but shouldn't Chris Hayes remain neutral

(13,144 posts)and media will condemn a democrat without a second thought. Maybe invite him on the show and ask him to explain why he is doing that.

(15,325 posts)Did Brother Luke tell Chris what big impactful words to say to drive home that bullseye on Maloney campaign?
Egregarious Political Malpractice.
Hayes needs to be fired.
Thin ice here

(15,325 posts)When Hayes sounds the "it's not fair" call for targeting a long standing Democrat, he is out of bounds.
This is not up to a fking overpaid news hack to declare his bias.& start the media denouncing degradation of our Democrat.
Neither Maloney nor Jones had a say in the redistricting. And Hayes has less than zero .
Hayes should report the news & leave his well known biased influence opinion out of it.
This isn't his call.
When his brother Luke shops his anti-Democratic campaign business thru Chris's show for a free & broad media reach, MSNBS should fire Hayes just as CNN fired Chris Cuomo for trading info with his brother.
Hayes needs to be reported for cronyism in promoting his Brother's candidates.
Luke Hayes should buy ad time like everyone else. That's quite the scam they're running.

(3,432 posts)That said, Chris Hayes, the ultimate replacement for Countdown with Keith Olbermann (after Phil Griffin moved The Ed Show from 8 PM to 5 PM) is just a dweeby corporate lackey. Keith Olbermann, not so much.
I never liked All In with Chris Hayes. Don't like his delivery and what and how he covers things.
A few weeks ago when the reporting that KO might be coming back to MSNBC to replace Rachel as she does her new projects, I was happy. Then she pulled the emergency brakes on that idea. My thought was, ok, if she doesn't want him in her time slot put Chris Hayes anywhere else and put KO back in his original time slot. Problem solved! Ratings bonanza! Didn't happen. I guess there are some at MSNBC that hate KO more than they love better ratings.
And with everything going on now in this country, Keith would be brilliant.

(249,123 posts)I'm currently in NY-21, was previously in NY-20, though I haven't gone anywhere. And they've already redrawn them twice, supposedly based on the last census, but both times there were problems, so they scrapped the new proposals both times.
I was in a district that included counties south of here, now I'm in one that includes the northernmost counties. And, unfortunately, that's Stefanik's district - but I don't necessarily want my district changed again, just my representation.
From what I read, the second plan was apparently scrapped since that would mean that the Democratic Rep., Paul Tonko, just south of here, would no longer live in the district he represents. Sounds like the same thing happened to Sean Patrick Maloney. Who's in charge of all this, anyway??

(53,517 posts)is STILL areas that Mondaire Jones represents now.
Sean Patrick Maloney the Problem Solver centrist, is trying to bigfoot Jones, the co-first ever gay black male member of Congress (tied with Ritchie Torres, normally a very laid-back man, who is accusing Maloney of racism).
Maloney is also the chairman of the DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee), so there are large conflicts of interest at play as well.
The redrawn 18th still has large parts of Maloney's 18th now, and he should stay and run there. His home is barely inside the new lines of the 17th according to MSNBC. I think that was done on purpose by that POS Special Master map drawer to cause Dem chaos.
Not only is Maloney's power play a really divisive bad bad look, but it could cost us a seat (and remove an incumbent as well, if he takes out Jones) if a Rethug wins the vacated 18th.
It is a total bullshit move by Maloney, and he has enraged both the Congressional Black Caucus and the Progressive Caucus (the single biggest Dem caucus in Congress with 98 members), which is hardly what you want from the head of the DCCC.
That SHIT map also is causing other huge issues with other incumbents now having to run against each other, including the likely next Speaker (or Minority Leader) Hakeem Jeffries vs Yvette Clarke (so another loss of a black House Dem either way) and then old power players Carolyn Maloney going against Jerrold Nadler.
It is a shitshow.
